Once upon a time, there was a very young Jalouse trying to find his place in the world and, more importantly, earn enough money to eat and pay the rent for the terrible apartment on Rue Bordeaux where he lived back in those distant days. Desperate, he took a job as a night janitor at a supermarket in the dead of February, working six days a week and getting paid at the end of the month. Of course, being winter, not a single ray of sunlight crossed his eyes during this ordeal, and since he was broke, he resorted to stealing all his meals from the very place where he toiled away at his thankless job.

Thankfully, there was one small comfort on his one night off. In exchange for a few coins, a meal, and an unlimited supply of alcohol, he had the honor of entertaining passing strangers with his guitar, sinking into a gentle drunkenness that dulled his sorrows and gave him the strength to face the nights ahead.
